One of the Franconia Soaring Foundation’s most important missions is to create a greater public awareness of the joys of motorless flight and educate them on the art and sport of motorless flight. In addition to hosting reduced cost introductory flights for the local community during Airport Day, we also host an Adaptive Soaring Day for individuals with disabilities, and partner with the Mount Washington Valley Career and Technical Center to provide introductory ground and flight instruction to Aviation STEM students. We are actively pursuing additional partnerships with other Career and Technical Centers and High Schools throughout the North Country.
We accomplish these flights through our valued partnership with the Franconia Soaring Association (FSA), which allows use of their aircraft at reduced cost, and whose tow pilots and Federal Aviation Administration Certified Flight Instructors (CFI-Glider) graciously volunteer their time and talents at no cost. To find out more about how you can learn to fly, please visit the FSA website.
